Content & AEO

Can Local/Current handle my content marketing too, not just my phones?

Yes. The same team that builds an AI phone system can build and run your content, because both run on the same underlying engine: an ongoing system that writes structured, direct-answer content about your business and feeds it to Google, ChatGPT, and Perplexity at once. It's not a second product bolted on. It's the same content-automation engine, repointed at your website instead of your call log.

What is AEO, in plain terms?

AEO stands for answer-engine optimization. It's the practice of writing web content so AI tools like ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, and Perplexity can lift a paragraph straight out of a page and hand it to someone as the answer to their question. Regular SEO gets you a ranked link on a results page, a person still has to click it. AEO gets your actual words read out or typed out as the answer itself, sometimes with your business named, sometimes without a click at all. Both matter. Neither replaces the other.

Is Google Business Profile and reviews still real SEO work, or is that outdated now?

Still real, still first. Your Google Business Profile, your review count and review responses, and pages built around your specific service area are the foundation everything else sits on. None of that goes away.

What changed is that it's no longer the whole job. AI Overviews and chat tools pull from a wider pool than the map pack: blog posts, FAQ pages, comparison articles, anywhere a direct, specific answer to a real question lives in writable text. A business with a great profile and zero written content is still invisible to that half of the search.

Why does this matter specifically for a local business, not just national brands?

Because "who's good near me" is exactly the kind of question people are starting to ask an AI instead of typing into Google. A Whitespark study reported by Search Engine Journal found AI Overviews now appear on 68% of local searches, compared to 39% for the traditional local pack of map results, a 29-point gap where a customer can get a full answer from Google's AI without ever seeing the map listings at all. If your business exists only as a directory listing and a phone number, there's nothing on the page for an AI Overview to pull from and name you with.

What does Local/Current actually build for content?

An ongoing stream of short, direct-answer pages built around the real questions your customers already ask, not a one-time site audit or a single blog post. Each page opens with a plain answer to one specific question, backed by a comparison table or a real number wherever one applies, with FAQ schema markup added so search engines and AI tools can read the structure, not just the words.

This is the same content-automation system already running Local/Current's own front-desk pages, the ones explaining AI receptionist pricing, comparing tools, and answering whether customers get annoyed talking to an AI. Repointed at a local business, it does the same job: a new direct-answer page added on a regular cadence, each one linked back to the others so the whole set reads as one connected body of proof.

What this is not

It's not a magic switch that gets you into ChatGPT's answers next week. Getting cited by an AI answer engine depends partly on your own pages and partly on what other sites already say about your business, and that second part takes time no matter who builds your content. This is an ongoing content practice, the same as answering phones is an ongoing practice, not a one-time project you finish and forget.
