Can I train my whole team to use AI, not just myself?
Yes. Most owners who ask this are already fine with AI themselves and the problem is everyone else: some staff avoid it, some use it their own way, and nobody's using it the same way twice. Local/Current runs a five-tier ladder for exactly this, starting free and scaling up to a system built for you.
What's the actual pattern behind this question?
The owner has been using ChatGPT for months, comfortable writing emails and drafting posts with it. Then they look around the shop and realize nobody else is doing any of that. Or worse: everyone's doing something, but it's not the same thing, one person copy-pasting into ChatGPT on her phone, another asking a coworker's kid to "make this sound better," a manager swearing by a tool nobody else has heard of. No shared system, no shared standard for what "good" looks like. Every answer a customer gets depends on who happened to type it.
That's not an AI problem. That's a training and structure problem, and it's the single most common reason a business owner who is personally ahead of the curve still isn't getting anything out of AI at the team level.
What does each tier actually include?
| Tier | Format | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your Team's AI Cheat Sheet (in-person) | Free, 60 min + 15 min Q&A, at SBDC/Chamber/coworking venues | Free | Owners who want to see what's possible before committing anyone's time |
| Your Team's AI Cheat Sheet (online) | Free, ~42 min webinar | Free | Teams who can't get to an in-person date |
| AI at Work (private team workshop) | 2 hours or half-day, on-site, up to 10 people | $750 (2 hrs) / $1,250 (half-day), +$50 per extra person | A specific team that wants hands-on training using their own workflows |
| Build Your Company's Brain | 4 sessions × 90 min, over 4 weeks, up to 8 people, recorded | $2,500 founding rate (rising to $3,500) | Teams that want to build and understand their own internal knowledge base together |
| Productized builds | Done-for-you: FAQ agent, Company Brain DFY, onboarding agent, customer widget | $500–$2,000 to build, $97–$150/mo to run | Owners who want the finished system without pulling staff into training sessions |
Tier 4's "Build Your Company's Brain" builds an actual internal knowledge base over four weeks: SOPs written down properly, FAQs, pricing logic, and the tone wanted for customer-facing answers, with every session recorded so nobody who misses one is left out.
Do I want "build it with us" or "build it for us"?
Tier 4 ("build it with us") puts your staff in the room for four weeks while the knowledge base gets built. That matters if you want your team to genuinely understand how the system works, if your SOPs and FAQs keep changing, or if you want more than one person capable of updating things later. The tradeoff is time: four weeks of 90-minute sessions is a real commitment from your staff's schedule.
Tier 5 ("build it for us") skips the sessions entirely. You get a working FAQ agent, onboarding agent, or intake widget without pulling your team off the floor for a month. The tradeoff is the reverse: your team didn't build it, so they understand it less deeply, and updates typically route back through the build-for-you retainer.
Neither is the "right" answer. A five-person shop with high turnover and simple, stable FAQs is often better served by Tier 5. A team that wants AI literacy to spread past one person, or that expects to keep revising what the system knows, usually gets more lasting value from Tier 4.
Is any of this a legal or privacy risk for my team?
No. Every tier of this ladder is built with one hard rule: no PHI, and no patient-data systems, ever. What gets taught and what gets built covers company knowledge only, SOPs, FAQs, pricing, tone. It never touches anything health-related or anything that would require handling protected health information. That's a structural decision about what this system is for, not a legal disclaimer bolted on at the end.
How this fits with the rest of what Local/Current does
Team training isn't a replacement for the front-desk automation work Local/Current is best known for, it's the complementary half. The AI receptionist handles the calls and messages that never make it to a human; the team training ladder makes sure the humans who do pick up are working from the same playbook instead of improvising. If you're trying to figure out whether missed calls are actually costing you business, see what it looks like when your business stops missing calls. If no-shows are eating into your schedule, this is what actually reduces them. And if reviews are the piece you're stuck on, here's how businesses are getting more of them.

Ten minutes, no charge, no pitch afterward unless you ask for one. I call your business line after hours with you listening, and we hear together what a customer gets right now. Most owners have never heard their own after-hours experience from the customer's side.
I'm opening in Santa Cruz in September. If you want to be first in line, the free line check is the way in, and I'll book you for the first week I'm on the ground.
